Energy Medicine Classes & Training

Personal Account of an Energy Medicine
5-day Basic Training workshop

People who take the training for CEU credits complete an open-book test that is designed to get them thinking about the material and about back-home applications. Here are the questions:
  1. List the techniques you will incorporate into your own personal “Daily Energy Routine.”
  2. Describe three things beyond the basic procedures that are important to remember when performing an energy test.
  3. List each of the eight energy systems (open book question) and describe three facts about each that are relevant to your own health and/or the health of your clients.
  4. Describe with specifics an energy routine you can use to improve a physical condition that is of concern to you or one of your clients.
  5. Describe with specifics an energy routine you can use to improve a mental or emotional condition that is of concern to you or one of your clients.

The following is from one of the participants, a psychotherapist who is integrating Energy Medicine into her work. We include it here because it not only gives you an idea of what you would be learning in the  5-day Basic Training, but also because it is in itself enormously instructive:

ENERGY MEDICINE 5-DAY BASIC TRAINING

CEU Questions for Integration and Back-Home Application

1. List the techniques you will incorporate into your own personal "Daily Energy Routine."

My daily energy routine currently consists of the hook-up; the 3 thumps; the self (front of body) neurolymphatic flush; tracing my meridians with extra spleen strengthening and triple warmer sedating; Wayne Cook posture, and the cross crawl. Throughout the day I repeat these practices and also add the crown pull, separating Heaven & Earth, and Heaven rushing in. My plan is to keep doing this for a while and also have a session with Sandy and to monitor the effects of this and modify it as needed.

2. Describe three things beyond the basic procedures that are important to remember when performing an energy test.

Energy testing is not muscle testing. It is testing the energies flowing through the body. When the tester’s energy is aligned with that of the person being tested, the energy test will work accurately despite differences in strength. Being energy tested establishes a communication link between the brain and the energies (in the body) of the person being tested. Energy testing also helps develop the sensitivity and intuition of the tester. An energy test should always be performed with the attitude of seeking the truth. Resonance needs to be developed between tester and testee and it takes some practice to become an accurate energy tester.

3. List each of the eight energy systems (open book question) and describe three facts about each that are relevant to your own health and/or the health of your clients.

The eight systems are: 1) The Basic Grid; 2) Chakras; 3) Aura; 4) Celtic Weave; 5) Meridians; 6) The 5 Rhythms; 7) Triple Warmer; and 8) the Strange Flows.

1) The Basic Grid is our energy "scaffold" or foundation. If there is a break in this people do not thrive and have a difficult time mustering their energies or healing. They can, however, strengthen the basic grid by strengthening their energy systems - one way is by doing 8’s with hands all over the body. Another way is by tapping in messages on the right and left sides of the head (left for negative - i.e. something like "my grid is not disrupted; right for positive - i.e. my grid is now whole and strong."). The "Boo Test" can be used (testing with the general indicator test first and then saying "Boo" and seeing if the test is weak or strong) to assess problems with the grid. I would refer anyone suspected of having grid problems to Sandy Wand or Donna Kitchen.

2) The Chakras - when 2 chakras are energetically cut off from each other the person can have the experience of warring subpersonalities - for instance, a compassionate, surrendered heart and a willful solar plexus. When a chakra is blocked, one’s life force and path cannot unfold. The chakras hold personal history and information that can be accessed on it’s effect on current life. Releasing and understanding the energies in the chakras is a powerful, powerful way to help oneself and others heal and actualize their potential. The chakras bring energy to all the organs. Maintaining the chakras by doing gentle counterclockwise circles over them is one of the best energy medicine techniques that one can do. This clears out stale energies; the chakras can then be strengthened by doing clockwise circles with, generally, the right hand.

3) The aura contains our energies. The aura also protects us. Reading the aura can provide a quick read on a person’s general health. The Hook-up is the best single technique for keeping the aura solid. The aura can also be scanned, which seals lesions; fluffed, which creates movement that releases toxins; and woven, which strengthens it.

4) The meridians are the body’s energy "bloodstream." A lot of health benefit can be derived from the simple procedure of tracing the meridians. Jet-lag can also be remedied by tracing the meridians, beginning in the time zone that one is currently in. The meridians can be tested for disturbance (blockage, stagnation, etc.) by the testee holding his/her thumb, index, and middle finger on the meridian alarm points, and more attention can then be paid to the meridians needing it.

5) The Celtic weave draws all of our energy systems together into a web of communication. It is valuable to use in energy cross-over problems and severe immune dysfunction. Rhythmic 8s and the Celtic weave for the aura both strengthen the body’s Celtic weave and promote health and healing.

6) The 5 rhythms are like an underlying rhythm or energy that flows through and imprints all of the other energy systems. They provide a way to view ourselves in terms of our core bioenergetics. Therefore, they are a very good lens for looking at chronic health issues and personality characteristics, as well as psychological and emotional patterns. I find them very helpful in loosening judgment of myself and others, and freeing of the tendency to take things, or see things personally.

7) Ah...Triple Warmer - that wonderful meridian of survival and the bane of my existence! In my practice as a counselor I see a lot of clients with very active triple warmers, and increasingly I see clients and find my friends being diagnosed with autoimmune dysfunction. Since triple warmer governs the fight or flight response, it is very useful to teach them several of the triple warmer sedating tools. Most feel an immediate shift toward calm that reinforces their continuing to do them.

As an aside, I showed tracing triple warmer backwards, and the crossed arm self hug, and also smoothing behind the ears to a friend and colleague with MS. She felt immediately better, went out and bought "Energy Medicine," is practicing many of the tools, and looks and feels better than she has in years.

Triple warmer has strong connections to the immune system. It is highly over-active in many people in our culture today as our bodies are faced with ever increasing numbers of toxins and stressors and our immune systems are regularly confronted with substances they have never before seen. Triple warmer also governs the body’s thermostat. It is ruled by the hypothalamus, and governs the body’s habit field.

8) Strange Flows. Triple warmer is a meridian and a strange flow. Other strange flows do not follow set pathways, but rather they flow where ever most needed, all over the body in many directions. They promote peace, harmony and cooperation among the other energy systems. "Spleen meridian is the most ambitiously peaceful strange flow" (I love that line). Strange flows are highly responsive to thoughts - for better and worse. Body chemistry, including the immune response, follows thoughts, and the strange flows are the energetic link. Activating the strange flows can activate the inner physician, which then continues to do the work of inner healing. Laughter, pleasure, and the beauty and peace of nature activate the strange flows. These flows have no corresponding acupuncture points, but are stimulated by the "Hook-Up" and by laughter, joy, forgiveness, gratitude and by sending a healing color through your body.

I feel as if I’m writing quite a time here, but I’m so excited about this work and it is being so helpful that I really want to write about it, and it helps me to assimilate the material. Thanks for reading it!

4. Describe with specifics an energy routine you can use to improve a physical condition that is of concern to you or one of your clients.

I will begin by answering with what I am currently doing for my own physical problems - chronic fatigue, systemic candida and worsening eyesight.

First, I’m writing this on an airplane having just traced my meridians after crossing one time zone to re-adjust. I did that, the 3 thumps, and separating heaven and earth in the terminal. I immediately felt energized, buoyant, and alive! Wow! My usual experience of airplane travel - especially after getting up at 5:00 a.m. - is of feeling very fatigued and energetically drained. This was different! For my chronic fatigue I am doing the daily energy routine with some add-ons - I’m doing everything I can to sedate triple warmer (I also have PTSD so this is a major one for me) - tracing the meridian backwards, holding sedating points, shutting off alarm points that are triggered, and to strengthen spleen - tracing spleen meridian, holding the strengthening points - tapping my spleen points. All of this seems to be helping a lot. I can feel my energies becoming much more alive and responsive. I am beginning to perceive them as vital, interactive forces with a consciousness of their own. Once we speak to them in their language, and they awaken, they are active forces in our healing and evolution!

For the candida (which is stomach & large intestine) I trace both of those meridians and hold the strengthening points. I also energy test food - at home with my barbell, elsewhere with the body pendulum method. I am getting so I can intuit what is good and not good for me (although I don’t always abstain from what I really want!). For my eyesight I am strengthening liver meridian, pinching above and below my eyes and tapping my index finger when placed over each eye. I’m finding I can now read some things without my glasses.

I have really been thinking of one of my clients during the training. She’s someone I’ve seen very sporadically for about the past 8 months. When she first came to me she was just ending chemotherapy for ovarian cancer and was wanting some transformational work. This spring, after attending your 2, 1-day trainings in Ashland, I taught her rhythmic 8s and the 3 thumps (also temporal taps to help with junk food cravings). Then I didn’t see her for 3 months, until right before the training she came in after receiving news of a high CA 125 test. While I’ve been gone she was going to have the test repeated. I’ve decided to refer her to Sandy Wand, regardless of the test results. I think she needs someone far more experienced and proficient in energy medicine than I am (and I think "Energy Medicine" can really help her). I will also ask permission of both my client and Sandy to attend her sessions. If my client isn’t willing to go to Sandy, I will do what I am able to do - and ask Sandy to supervise me.

I find that I am very comfortable teaching people the tools to use with themselves, and less comfortable actually doing energy work with them. I have some background in this - training and experience is with psychological counseling. I do, however, feel an affinity for this work because of feedback from Sandy and my own experience of being able to sense what was happening with people and later having it confirmed. This happened with my friend, Diane, at the training. We went out to dinner one night and she became dizzy with waves of vertigo and started looking very tired and unwell. When we got back to the hotel I asked if she wanted me to work on her - I figured I would do the neurolymphatic flush, trace her meridians and do a Celtic weave for her.

Back to the issue of a healing strategy for myself - with every day my understanding of this work deepens, as I read more, experiment more, and grow more. This morning I realized that I could energy test my own meridians with my barbell, which I did after doing the hook-up, cross-crawl (I was homolateral this morning) and 3 thumps. Both stomach and large intestine tested weak after just tracing them. Stomach was strong after flushing it, but large intestine was still weak so I massaged it’s neurolymphatics and it tested strong. This, as well as several rounds of cross-crawl per day, will be added to my healing routine for CFS and candida. As for my client with ovarian cancer, I feel more comfortable doing some meridian testing on her, and working to flush or clear weak meridians and testing her for homolateral using l l and X drawn on paper or having her walk backwards. Together we can design a self-healing plan for her, including asking herself "What one change do I need to make towards healing right now?" and setting an internal intent to heal. I still feel most comfortable referring her to Sandy for deeper work - since she is so sick, that seems like the most compassionate and ethical course of action to me. I will also keep studying and offering her what I learn.

5. Describe with specifics an energy routine you can use to improve a mental or emotional condition that is of concern to you or one of your clients.

I use energy medicine with myself on an emotional level in a few ways. First, I clear my chakras every evening and hold my neurovasculars when feelings, memories or difficult issues arise. Secondly, I am working with the "human touching divine" exercise to bring the metal rhythm more into balance. From the first time I practiced it I noticed a real lightening. I am now really appreciating bringing the cures into my heart - that is really creating a sense of softening and love for all of it - not just the "good" parts, or what I think I want.

In the past 2 days I have used this work with 2 clients. One is a 60 year old woman who has been severely depressed, anxious, and has been hoarse (she is a singer) for the past 5 years, since her son was brutally murdered. We were working on a scene from the murder trial (the civil suit just ended and brought this up). She was feeling very helpless, disempowered and stuck. I hooked her up, cleared her lymphatics and held her forehead neurovasculars and told her to just focus on the trial and the feelings. After maybe 2 minutes she experienced being back at the trial and many scenes replaying "like pool - bouncing up and back and forth). It was intense, but she stayed with it and the feeling of not being able to be heard. This lasted for about 3-4 minutes, then she reported a release, and I felt a strong pulse in her right point. I held her points for another few minutes while she relaxed. I never did feel even pulses in both points, but we each had a clear sense of being complete. She left the session smiling (for the first time in 8 months) and saying that she now felt that she could get completion - she was going to write to the judge, D.A., and other attorneys and say all that she had been unable to during the trial. Her voice was also much stronger.

Yesterday I worked with a 22 year old man with OCD. His OCD manifests as obsessive and almost non-stop negative thoughts and images about himself. I taught him the crown pull, and to hold his neurovasculars while letting the thoughts and feelings be present and focusing on them. He was able to calm and experience periods of no thoughts and much less distress from them. I also taught him to breathe in a healing color, in his case, into his head. He experienced a lot of relief. For him there had been very few times without the thoughts since he was a young child!

So, I’m feeling more confident and very inspired and committed. I am realizing that I can’t harm anyone and can do a lot of good. I have never had good - or actually, hardly any energetic boundaries, so I find myself really being able to send and sometimes see what’s going on with others and what they need, and I also have real problems with taking it on. I will continue to do the zip-up, my Chi Kung exercise, and the Celtic weave. A couple of days ago I put my arms in Ashland Creek after feeling very lightheaded and nauseated after a session - that helped a lot. I am hoping that what has been terribly difficult for me most of my life can be used as a gift to others, to spirit and to myself.
