tango_in_the_streetsFrom a Wheel Chair to the Tango Floor

By Donna and David

A friend from decades earlier, after not having seen us for ages, showed up to one of our classes in a wheel chair. A surgery had gone wrong, and she was never expected to walk again. Dealing with intense nerve pain for eight years had worn down her immune system to the point where her life-force energy had dwindled down to a small flame. Colds quickly progressed into pneumonia. She feared the next flu bug might take her life. After the class, she began to work intensely with some of our EEM practitioners and she was also diligent in her back-home work. She was out of the wheelchair within 3 months, walking with two canes in six months, and walking entirely on her own within a year. We then learned she had been taking Tango lessons and was becoming quite good at it. We recently received an e-mail from her, written to some of her nearest and dearest, that begins:

"This message goes out to my family and dearest friends because I am overjoyed and uncontainable at 2AM and I must let you know how
tearfully thankful I am feeling right now. It just cant wait! I just came home after dancing all night long to GOOOOOD exceptional amazing live music at three different clubs. Oh My GOOD LORD, the musicians were playing straight from the soul, expressing their passion. But what makes me overjoyed is that I danced to all of the songs, all of those hours straight through, with no pain in my legs at all! (No alcohol or pain meds either!)

Aaaaaaand, my legs were completely free! They did everything I asked of them. For the very first time since the injury, I have total and
complete command of my feet! I could dance any dance any style and be entirely in tune with each partner! Oh it was magnificent. I could
dance like I used to so many years ago. My body became the voice of each instrument.

I could let the harmonica vibrate up my spine and out my finger tips, allow the drums to tumble through me punctuating each beat with my
feet, feel the bass commanding my hips to roll like a belly dancer, and let the guitar ripple through me from head to toe.

Often I would just choose one instrument and be it alone. I felt so free. I felt I was flying!! I am flying!! And I could do all of that while still holding hands and following my leads without missing a beat with any of them! I am BACK!!

At the second club the band actually challenged me. The lead singer noticed how much fun I was having interpreting the instruments. During
an instrumental solo, he encouraged each band member to play directly to me to see if I could express each note with my body. They
gave me a run for my money, but I did it -- including a really complicated drum solo. I was the music. I was so lost in it that I somehow knew each note they were going to play next -- even when they were improvising! Oh it was, and is, just amazing.

a_smile_from_me_to_youI am so thankful to the Lord, my family and friends, and the Eden Energy Medicine healers who have facilitated this miracle. Especially Sandy Wand.

I am thankful for all your love, thankful for the many blessings the Lord has bestowed upon us all, thankful for the freedom to fully express myself physically (it has been a long haul -- 8 years of intense pain and thousands of hours of rehab), and I am thankful for this beautiful jewel of a town that offers so many options to celebrate life. Come celebrate with me! Seriously. Let's go dancing!

I think of you all sleeping right now and send you tender kisses and sweet, sweet dreams.

Thank you for loving me so well.

With my whole heart,

Alisonleigh, Auntie Alison, Mom, and Gramma. (Hey kids, your Gramma is a happy dancing fool!)"
