As the pool of eligible applicants has greatly expanded, we at Innersource have had to devise new ways to assure that applicants are evaluated in a fair and equitable manner. The criteria we are using when selecting from a large list of qualified applicants is detailed below. You will also find a list of what you need to submit to be considered.
Keep in mind that only a limited number of people can be accepted for each workshop. We value our long-term Teaching Assistants and also want to support new people to apply and have the experience of being a Teaching Assistant. However, not everyone can be chosen.
We look at every application for every workshop. Not being selected does not necessarily reflect on your abilities. A complex mix of factors is involved in TA selection. Because of the large number of qualified people, you could meet all the criteria and still wind up on a waiting list. In fact, because our participants tend to register last minute, being on a waiting list is a fairly standard part of the process. But if you are not selected for a particular event, please don't become discouraged. One of our criteria is to bring in new people and rotate people, so not being invited to one event doesn't mean you won't be invited to the next one.
What we consider:
1. If the person HAS been a TA before:A. How well does the person know EEM and how well does the person convey that knowledge?
B. How well did the person manage the dynamics of his/her small group?
C. Was the person able to stay within an EEM framework rather than to introduce other approaches and concepts that might confuse students new to EEM?
D. Was it easy for students and other TAs to approach the person? Was the person available to students and visible/accessible immediately before, during, and after class times?
E. How proactive was the person in engaging students?
F. How did the person do with their other TA roles and assignments like the Resource Table, book signing line, etc.?
G. How good were the student evaluations about the person?
H. How much has the person volunteered to support other Innersource activities?
2. If the person has NOT been a TA before:
A. What experience does the person have with EEM and, to a lesser degree, other forms of energy medicine?
B. Is the person able to stay within an EEM framework?
C. How much has the person volunteered to support other Innersource activities?
D. Make sure Innersource has a completed TA application on file.
3. Does the person have a study group?
4. Personal Qualities we look for:
A. "Heart" and compassion.
B. Ability to step out of personal issues and be present for students.
C. Ability to be outgoing and engaging when needed, regardless of your "default" personality.
D. Demonstrated "responsibility" (past responsiveness to needs of students and colleagues, responsiveness to phone and email contact, keeping appointments and scheduled meetings, etc.).
5. Considerations for Specific Events:
A. The mix we need between new and experienced applicants and an attempt to allow as many people as possible the opportunity to be a TA.
B. Location-where does the person live in relation to the workshop? Local people are given extra consideration as they can do follow-up classes and study groups, provide sessions, get to the event more economically, etc.
C. Your TA request needs to arrive to Frank Dowler in a timely manner. He needs to have your name on the list when the review process begins.
How you can apply:
There is a one-time application process to be in our TA pool. Once you have been accepted, you then indicate to Frank Dowler, via email, your interest in a particular event.
The minimum requirement before applying to be in the TA pool is to have been a participant in a live 5-Day Basic Training taught by Donna or to have taken a 5-Day by home study and completed the first year of the CP.
The events where we utilize TAs include: brief local events (evening, 1-day, and weekends); the 5-Day Basic Training; Practicums and Donna's Advanced Classes. To TA at a 5-Day, you must have participated in a live 5-Day and completed the first year of the CP or the equivalent of the first year of the CP in other trainings with Donna. We also ask that you have lead study groups, and have an active EEM practice. TA'ing at Practicums and Advanced Classes is by invitation. Please note that the brief local events are great ways to gain experience and also to build your practice if you live in the area of the event.
Being a TA at any of Donna's classes is an excellent way to enhance your EEM training. Even people who have been to many classes always pick up something new and find it a refresher for much of what they already know. TAs generally pay their own way (it is different for highly experienced TAs who help supervise others). This arrangement has provided an excellent path for people's professional development and at the same time allowed us to keep our fees lower for our students. You will be sent an overview of the various TA levels and financial arrangements upon your acceptance as a TA.

- If you are a health care practitioner, please submit copies of workshop/class announcements or other advertisements.
- Please be sure your listing and photo are up on www.EnergyMedicineDirectory.com. Your application will not be finalized until you are listed on this site! Go to the directory and click on "Free Directory Listing" to get listed on the Energy Medicine Directory website.
What you get in return:
- The opportunity for additional learning and professional development by experiencing Donna in action and through further involvement with Eden Energy Medicine and its community.
- The opportunity (at 4- and 5-Day events) to attend a pre-class TA gathering (usually on the day the class begins--classes begin in the evening), which includes orientation, team-building, and training that might cover case studies in group dynamics, problem-solving in group dynamics, and other relevant EEM topics.
- A 20% discount on all Innersource products purchased at the class where you are a TA.
- Opportunity to return to TA with greater responsibility.
- Greater chance of becoming a faculty member of the Eden Energy Medicine Certification Program, since most faculty members are usually drawn from the TA pool.
