Bruce Lipton, Ph.D. - Opening Keynote Speaker
Bruce Lipton, the ground- breaking biologist who illuminated our understanding of the way energy impacts cellular behavior, is delivering the opening keynote at the First International Gathering of Eden Energy Medicine (IGEEM) in San Diego, September 2012. With Dr. Lipton agreeing to open the Convention and Jean Houston slated to give the closing keynote, we have the best "bookends" we could imagine!
While on the faculty of the Stanford University School of Medicine, Dr. Lipton pioneered new scientific understanding of how the energies in the environment control cell behavior, physiology and the activation of genes. Dr. Lipton is the best selling author of the books Biology of Belief and Spontaneous Evolution. He is the recipient of the 2009 Goi Peace Award, and has been a guest speaker on hundreds of TV and radio shows. He is frequently a keynote presenter at major conferences.
Dr. Lipton is one of the most captivating speakers we know. His brilliance and his total passion and excitement about the body's mysteries, and what science is revealing about them, are contagious. Recognizing that Donna & David are bringing practical and empowering applications of his discoveries to the public, he has been enormously gracious to them. Candace Pert, Ph.D. - Keynote Speaker
Candace Pert, Ph.D., is an internationally recognized brain researcher whose earliest work involved the discovery of opiate receptors. Known also for her findings on the role neuropeptides in the immune system, she has published more than 300 scientific articles as well as a bestseller on mind-body communication, Molecules of Emotion. She has appeared on major media, including "Larry King Live," and was featured in the film "What the Bleep Do We Know!??" and in Bill Moyer's TV series "Healing and the Mind." Dr. Pert received her Ph.D. from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, served as Chief of the Section on Brain Biochemistry of the Clinical Neuroscience Branch of NIMH, held a Research Professorship in the Department of Physiology and Biophysics at Georgetown University School of Medicine, and is currently the Scientific Director of RAPID Laboratories, Inc. We met Candace in a hot tub during a conference more than two decades ago and were captivated by this sparkling soul driving such a brilliant mind. Candace graced our book, Promise of Energy Psychology, by contributing its Foreword.
James Oschman, Ph.D. - Keynote Speaker
The foremost researcher in Energy Medicine, cell biologist James Oschman, PhD, will be joining us at IGEEM. Dr. Oschman is the author of the "other" classic book that has the title Energy Medicine (subtitled "The Scientific Basis"). His treatise, which came out in 2000, shortly after Donna's book was published, is a powerful compliment to Donna's entry into the field. Donna's Energy Medicine shows you how to do it. Jim's Energy Medicine shows you why it works. Donna and Jim have long wanted to collaborate, and they are both excited that Jim will be providing a keynote address titled "Energy Medicine: State of the Art; State of the Science." He will also be offering a pre-conference workshop at IGEEM.
Besides his original Energy Medicine and a highly acclaimed sequel, Jim has published more than 60 scientific papers that synthesize scientific and clinical evidence in demystifying and bolstering the theories behind Energy Medicine.
Alberto Villoldo, Ph.D. - Keynote Speaker
Of all the voices bringing ancient knowledge and healing practices to Western culture, Dr. Villoldo is among the clearest and brightest. A psychologist and medical anthropologist, he has studied the healing practices of the Amazon and Inka shamans for more than 25 years. While at San Francisco State University, he founded the Biological Self-Regulation Laboratory to study how the mind creates psychosomatic health and disease. Among his best-selling books are Shaman, Healer, Sage; The Four Insights: Wisdom, Power, and Grace of the Earthkeepers; and Courageous Dreaming: How Shamans Dream the World into Being. His classic, Healing States: A Journey Into the World of Spiritual Healing and Shamanism, was co-authored with Dr. Stanley Krippner -- Donna and David's longtime dear friend and David's co-author on Personal Mythology. Dr. Villoldo directs The Four Winds Society, where he trains individuals throughout the world in the practice of shamanic wisdom, the healing arts, and energy medicine.
Jean Houston, Ph.D. - Closing Keynote Speaker
Before Donna and I joined our careers as well as our lives, there was little overlap amongst our intellectual heros, with one exception, Jean Houston. Jean is high up among the most articulate, visionary, heartful, and effective people on the planet. We have sought ways of collaborating with her over the years and, in the process, have become dear friends with her. We were overjoyed this week to learn that she has agreed to deliver a keynote at the September 2012 International Gathering of Eden Energy Medicine Convention.
In speaking with her, we learned that she will be offering far fewer live workshops such as the fabled Mystery School she has been presenting over the past three decades. She is finding that she is reaching and powerfully impacting thousands of people through her teleseminars. Her inspiring and enlightening message lends itself well to that medium, but in our opinion, there is nothing like being in her presence when she is teaching.
