Based on David Feinstein's Remarks upon First Addressing the EEM Certification Program Class of 2014

When we at Innersource chose as our company motto "Raising the vibration of the planet, one person at a time," we were not intentionally making a political statement. We were focusing on the ways the energetic health of your body and mind influences the vibration of those around you. But over time, we have also recognized that Energy Medicine offers a metaphor that can be applied to healing a troubled humanity and the planet that is being ravished by that humanity's pain, confusion, and excesses.

The metaphor has merit. Each individual whose energies are freed, balanced, and brought to a higher vibration becomes a healthier cell in the body of humanity. Each becomes a force toward a kinder, wiser, and more vibrant humanity. Each individual who is “vibrating” at a high level of energetic harmony and balance becomes a force whose actions will respect the beauty and grandeur of the incredible planet we have been given. Whose actions will be intent on ensuring that our grandchildren's grandchildren will have a place where their lives can thrive.

If we carry the metaphor further, we can use it to diagnose our maladies. What is occurring in the body of humanity that is blocking the flow of its healthy energies? What are the energetic conditions within humanity that negatively impact the organs of our society: the cities, the governments, the corporations, the wealthy, the disenfranchised? What are the energetic conditions within humanity that are causing us to ravage the organs of our planet: its waters, forests, air, and land?

The answers to each of these questions are not hard to discern, but they have also become deeply politicized. For the body, energy needs to be distributed in a manner that serves the whole organism and the energies among the organs need to work in harmony. The same principles apply for the collective. But widespread fear, partisan interests, established institutions, and deeply embedded practices are promoting perilous conditions in our governments, cities, corporations, waters, forests, air, and land. Energy in a society is the ability to produce. Energy in a society is the will toward collective action. Energy in a society is the power to allocate resources by controlling wealth. Energy is abundant, but the ways it is being distributed are proving malignant and disastrous.

Carrying the metaphor even further, remedies begin to appear. If the globe were a human body, how would it respond to such life-threatening dysfunction? The human body has developed the most intelligent immune system on the planet. Not only are Triple Warmer and the Radiant Circuits capable of working in harmony, as Donna spells out in Chapter 8 of Energy Medicine, consciousness that allows free will is the new element in nature’s precarious experiment called humanity. Consciousness has become the “third arm” of the immune system. With consciousness, you can make choices that build an internal environment that supports health and healing as well as an external environment that supports them. With consciousness, you have a remarkably capable and adaptive immune system. So the three arms of the immune system are, in brief:

The Triple Warmer detects internal invaders such as bacteria and external threats, from poisons to predators, but it uses evolutionarily outmoded strategies for addressing them.

The Radiant Circuit System creates connection and cooperation among all the body’s parts and systems, but it is not proficient at dealing with immediate malicious threats.

Consciousness makes it possible to build on the strengths of each while compensating for the weaknesses of each.

Bringing these three arms of the immune system to the social arena:

Humanity’s Collective Triple Warmer is seen not only in the military that defends the borders and interests of every country and often aggresses to control resources beyond its borders, it is the tendency of every nation and every people to view the familiar as good and the unfamiliar as bad. It quickly identifies enemies and mobilizes itself to destroy or control them. That is Triple Warmer’s core strategy as the energetic orchestrator of both the immune system and the ancient fight/flight/freeze response. This strategy writ large may infect corporations, political parties, and governing bodies. It is not friendly toward cooperation and alliances.

Humanity’s Collective Radiant Circuit System is seen in the incredible history of human beings for connection and cooperation. Fueled by a capacity for sophisticated language, cooperation gives us our evolutionary advantage. Remember, joy is only the happy tip of the Radiant Circuit iceberg. The Radiant Circuits are powerful energies that bring about harmony, balance, and communication among all parts and systems of the body. They are instinctive within the body, and they are the spontaneous glue that joyfully bonds parents to children and forges communities into isles of caring and collaboration. The Radiant Circuits do not, however, solve all the body’s or all of society’s challenges. Triple Warmer still needs to use its amazing white-blood-cell and related attack strategies to take out cancer cells and other immediate threats. Communities still need police forces and fire fighters and means for protecting themselves from outside invaders. But the Radiant Circuits are the model for preventive medicine and your body’s first line of defense. They bring all the systems of the body into greater harmony. They create an environment where cancer and other threats do not thrive and crime and terrorism are not bred.

Humanity’s Collective Consciousness. The use of our front brain prevents us from being driven by the outmoded survival strategies of our back brain. Consciousness can modulate the Triple Warmer-driven impulses that cause us to yell at our kids. Consciousness can modulate the Triple Warmer-driven impulses that that cause the U.S. to spend more on its military than the next seven largest military budgets combined. Consciousness can galvanize intention, creating a collective will that recognizes the inadequacies of survival instincts that trace to prehistoric times. Consciousness can recognize that fear-based Triple Warmer strategies block creativity and keep us locked in outmoded strategies. Consciousness can elevate the prominence of our Radiant Circuit instincts, which favor cooperation over competition, distribute resources fairly, and would never foul, no less destroy, the nest in which we all live. Just as you can use consciousness to mobilize your will to do Energy Medicine practices that remove energetic blocks and enhance harmony throughout your body, the collective can mobilize its will to enhance cooperation while applying force to change arrangements that hoard resources, destroy the planet, and darken the human spirit. Both Radiant Circuit and Triple Warmer strategies are needed, and our collective consciousness, immeasurably enhanced now by electronic communication, can bring them into a new balance so all of humanity may thrive.

Be the Change. Energy Medicine offers a path for meeting Gandhi’s provocative challenge: “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” Keeping balance in your life begins with keeping balance in your energies. Do simple Energy Medicine exercises every day to keep an energetic balance in your body and you will be more attuned to ways of keeping balance in your life. Use your understanding of the three pillars of immune-mediated health – Triple Warmer, the Radiant Circuits, and consciousness – to keep your own Triple Warmer and Radiant Circuit energies working in harmony, even as the world around you is escalating Triple Warmer at the expense of the creative, collaborative influences of the Radiant Circuits. You are the microcosm, and the world will vibrate with you. With a knowledge of Energy Medicine comes the opportunity, even the responsibility, to use it for your own good and for the good of those you love and of the world in which you live.

Closing Comments for the Entering EEM Class. As you learn Energy Medicine, you are learning what heals the body, and what heals the body holds the seeds and principles that can heal society. As below, so above. This transcends politics. This is a model for social evolution that is based on the venerable energy systems of the human body. Whatever your political views or affiliations, by learning Energy Medicine, by becoming expert in working with the body's energies to heal the body, you cannot help but begin to discern what needs to be done to heal the planet.
